Rotary’s Vision
Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
Speaker 10/31/21- Maddy Scholar

Maddy is a Rotary Global Grant Scholar who has recently returned from her adventures in Manchester, England. She lived in Manchester for nearly a year before Coronavirus cut her time in England short. However, she was able to finish her program from her home in Georgia. She received a Masters degree in Peace and Conflict Resolution from the University of Manchester and graduated with distinctive honors.

Before receiving the grant, she attended Coastal Carolina University where she studied for her Bachelors degree, also graduating with Magna Cum Laude. At Coastal, she published multiple chapters in various books, participated in a fellowship, and graduated in three years.

She enjoys a very active lifestyle, to include mixed martial arts, bull riding, scuba diving, and shooting. Currently, she is living with her parents and younger brother in Marietta, Georgia and is looking into starting her career.

End Polio Now
On Saturday, 23 October, fourteen people representing our local Rotary Clubs celebrated the efforts by individuals in all 4 Clubs of ADG Dot Jeger's area within District 7770. Bernie Riedel, District 7770 End Polio Now co-chair, led the 1,000 mile Challenge initiative.

A few undertook the challenge on an individual basis and others either set lesser personal goals or worked as a team toward 1,000 miles. All efforts were important to this unique way to raise awareness and money to eradicate polio from the planet.

The Sunset Rotary representative in the photos is Toney Mathews, who completed the 1,000 mile challenge as an individual on 11 October. The photo with the banner was taken first and the second photo taken after a relaxing one mile walk on the beach to relive individual stories. Thank you Sunset Rotary for your support and encouragement.
