Our Speaker This Week Is Fred Hutchinson
Fred Hutchinson is an historian of the lowcountry so this should prove to be a very interesting presentation. Let’s be the friendly club and please make sure to introduce yourself to Fred and help find him a seat.
SAVE THE DATE: December 2nd
We are keeping our social chairman Tom very busy. It will be held at Indigo Run and the menu will include filet!!! This will be a don’t miss party!!
Successful Happy Feet!
A number of us were on hand at The Children’s Center Last Friday for our annual Happy Feet sneaker giveaway. As always, this was a wonderful project for our club and over 100 children received a new pair of New Balance sneakers. For many, it was the first time these children have received a new pair of shoes. In addition to the sneakers, they each received a new pair of socks and could choose a book to bring home. Many thanks to Jade Weaver and the Ridgeland Library for obtaining the books. There were many smiles leaving The Children’s Center!!
SAVE THE DATE: November 20th Meeting
Maury has certainly been busy getting us great speakers and the one for our November 20th meeting is one you don’t want to miss. We will have Dave Lauderdale, the journalist, visiting us and giving a presentation. This is also a GREAT OPPORTUNITY to invite prospective members to attend and to show them what Sunset Club is all about.
Are you bringing a guest to Monday’s meeting?? Why doesn’t everyone reach out to a friend and invite them to dinner? You never know where that next new member will come from.
Another Successful Run For Hunger!
Sandalwood held their annual Run For Hunger on Saturday. As usual, we had a number of volunteers from Sunset Rotary help out to make it a success. Thank you for doing so.
WANTED: PROGRAM CHAIRMAN
Maury has done a fantastic job finding us speakers for the first half of our Rotary year in spite of his responsibilities with other organizations. Unfortunately, he has decided to retire for his position (he only agreed to do it for a half year). So we need someone to step up and replace him. Please let me know if you are interested. Remember “Service above self”!
