BULLETIN 01/08/2023

hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas and New Years! A lot has happened since our last meeting.

Sandalwood: It was incredible to see so many people come together in order to make so many families’ Christmas special. Pam was able to get a huge number of presents together, and Toney and Nancy were able to deliver as well as gather many many more. - Thank you Nancy and Ginger for getting that together and everyone who joined in for both bringing presents to the meetings, and to those who helped pass them out at Sandalwood. Here are a few photos from the project.

Jingle Jingle: As cold as it was (19 degrees!) "Jingle Jindgle" was a lot of fun! We even saw Pete Towne that morning. Sadly when we got the picture he was off getting some hot chocolate, one of the perks of volunteering! Thanks Toney for taking the lead on this and coordinating with Barefoot Sports.

And thank you everyone who joined in with the Salvation Army Bell ringing!

Sandalwood Community Food Pantry
Sunset Rotary Brings Christmas Cheer to Neighbors in Need

What a wonderful experience for our members at this special time of year to help the families of Sandalwood Community Food Pantry. What does Christmas mean to you? Perhaps it is the spirit of giving as our simple acts of kindness can bring joy, the love of Christ, hope, and a moment of peace to those in our community who struggle each day to have just basic necessities. Sunset Rotarians, you brought all of this on 20 December to our Sandalwood neighbors.

Your collective generosity allowed Sandalwood to distribute 200 wrapped gifts to the children and parents who might otherwise have nothing to put under their Christmas tree. THANK YOU from the Sandalwood director, Rev. Dr. Nannette Pierson. The result of your efforts that Nancy Millette led culminated in delivery of the gifts on 19 December by Tyler, Jade, Nancy, and Toney.

The next morning, John Whidden, Nancy, and Toney viewed the smiles of delight as the youth group from Rev. Nannette’s church took charge of helping with the gift distribution. Nancy gave a brief talk to the youth about Sunset Rotary, and then we stayed out of their way so as not to diminish their energy and love as they prepared to handle the gift distribution.
