Happy Feet 2020
The Sunset club started "Happy Feet" in 2018 and it returns in 2021 with the support of our local New Balance Factory Store. The event will be held on Saturday October 23 from 7:30 AM until 12 PM at the Children's Center.  We work with preschool children who are identified by the center as needing some type of government support.  New Balance helps by providing the shoes and socks at a 40%-50% discount off the retail price.
Sunset Rotary pays for the shoes with money earned by fund raising events including our mini golf tournament.  To help cover the cost, we receive $1,500 from Rotary District 7770, which we match.  This totals $3,000 to provide socks and shoes to the underprivileged children in our area.
The children's feet are measured ahead of time and ordered by the local store. The children come to the Children’s Center on Saturday morning to select their new shoes.  They try on the shoes to make sure they fit and then wear them home.  They are so proud of their new shoes and their expressions of joy are priceless.
In light of the pandemic, we will have a social distancing plan in place and  all participants and clients of the Children's Center over the age of 8 will be required to wear masks. We will have set-up at the Children's Center Friday evening the 18 th from 5:30-7:30 to place banner/signs/social distancing items etc.
Please save some time either Friday evening or Saturday morning to help us out, as most of you know it is such a fun, rewarding event for us!
